Buffalo Creek Memorial Library, the first "instant" library in the nation was dedicated on February 26, 1973 on the first year anniversary of the disaster that destroyed 16 communities, 17 miles of the narrow valley and took 125 lives. The original structure which, was one carrousel, has since expanded to a facility that now has a large children's room and houses a collection of over 25,000 written, audio and video items. Our mission is to provide you with the most comprehensive and up-to-date methods of discovery. Access to databases is available through wvinfodepot.org. Your library card allows you to download ebooks from WVREADS. The world wide web can be accessed on the eight public computers or by using our wireless internet access with your own laptop. Surf the net for information, keep up with the family through social media or do some shopping all at the library. We look forward to showing you the world!
